Soon there will be kids who won’t know what their “save” icon is. Scary.

Cooking with a captain Kirk :D
#need fic immediately where Sisko gets really into historical cooking #and finds out that Captain Kirk was well-known for his lasagna recipe #(because you needed ST IV feels didn’t you?) #and spends ages trying to replicate it along with those weird food cube things and old-style plomeek soup #so they can have a 2260s Starfleet dinner night #and he drives Jake completely nuts because he won’t stop making and re-making the lasagna #because it just tastes bland and he won’t accept that it actually was #until finally Jadzia realizes that the reason there aren’t many spices listed on the recipe #(which comes from some kind of original Enterprise historical collection) #is because Kirk was using fresh Vulcan spices and had no idea how to spell them so he just remembered that part of the recipe #and sure enough when they cross-reference with the ships’ supply logs they find a couple of key ingredients #including a kind of sharp-tasting powdered seed that turns out to be absolutely heavenly when dashed over lasagna #anyway 2260s night is blast and everyone dresses up in old-style uniforms #and drinks too much Saurian brandy #and Jadzia maybe spikes some of the food cubes but no one’s completely sure with what #and it turns out that cheese doesn’t agree with Cardassian physiology at least according to certain parties #who end up getting escorted back to their quarters by a sympathetic doctor #so all in all it’s a big success #(and the one visiting Vulcan dignitary in attendance doesn’t laugh but almost wants to #because pre-reform-but-kinda-still-secretly-accepted tradition holds that that particular spice #is an aphrodisiac or at the very least strongly associated with romance #… but of course she doesn’t say anything because there is no logical reason to do so #and also Vulcans are not above inside jokes) #the end
Saw American English the Beatles tribute band tonight, and I’ve gotta say…their Paul did Paul better than Paul does.
